Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about buying and selling on DomainLiq

General

What is DomainLiq?

DomainLiq is a domain marketplace that connects sellers with buyers. We handle payments through Stripe (credit cards), USDC (cryptocurrency), and PayPal (direct), holding funds securely until domain transfer is confirmed (except PayPal).

What payment methods do you accept?

We support three payment methods:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: Via Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)
  • USDC Cryptocurrency: On the Polygon network (low fees)
  • PayPal: Direct payment to seller (verified domains only)

What are the platform fees?

For Card Payments (Stripe):

  • $1 - $9.99: FREE (no platform fee)
  • $10 - $50: $1.00 flat
  • $51 - $100: $1.50 flat
  • $100+: 2%

Stripe also charges ~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

For USDC Payments (Crypto):

  • All prices: 5% flat fee

No additional processing fees. Polygon gas fees are typically less than $0.01.

USDC Payments

What is USDC?

USDC (USD Coin) is a stablecoin cryptocurrency pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. 1 USDC always equals $1 USD. It's issued by Circle, a regulated financial company, and is one of the most trusted stablecoins in the crypto industry.

Why do you use Polygon network?

Polygon has much lower transaction fees compared to Ethereum mainnet. A typical transaction on Polygon costs less than $0.01, while the same transaction on Ethereum could cost $5-50. This makes USDC payments practical for all price ranges.

How do I pay with USDC?

  1. Click the purple "Pay with USDC" button on a domain
  2. Enter your email address
  3. You'll see the escrow wallet address and exact USDC amount
  4. Open your crypto wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, etc.)
  5. Make sure you're on the Polygon network
  6. Send the exact USDC amount to the address shown
  7. Copy your transaction hash back to DomainLiq to verify

Where can I buy USDC?

You can buy USDC on any major cryptocurrency exchange:

  • Coinbase
  • Binance
  • Kraken
  • Crypto.com

After buying, transfer the USDC to your wallet on the Polygon network.

What if I send USDC on the wrong network?

Important: We only accept USDC on Polygon (not Ethereum, BSC, or other networks). If you send USDC on the wrong network, we cannot recover it. Always double-check you're on the Polygon network before sending.

How do I receive USDC payouts as a seller?

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations
  2. Find the "USDC Payments" section
  3. Enter your Polygon wallet address
  4. Click Save

When a buyer pays with USDC and confirms receipt, the USDC (minus 5% fee) is sent directly to your wallet.

What's the minimum for USDC payments?

Domains must be priced at $5 or more to accept USDC payments. The domain must also be verified (green badge) for USDC to be available.

PayPal Payments

How does PayPal payment work?

PayPal is a direct payment method. When you click "Pay with PayPal", you're redirected to PayPal to send money directly to the seller. DomainLiq is not involved in this transaction.

Is PayPal payment protected by DomainLiq?

No. PayPal payments go directly to the seller. DomainLiq does not hold PayPal payments in escrow and cannot issue refunds or mediate disputes. If you have an issue, you must handle it through PayPal's buyer protection program.

Why would I use PayPal?

  • You trust the seller
  • You prefer PayPal's buyer protection over card payments
  • Seller doesn't have Stripe or USDC configured

How do I enable PayPal as a seller?

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations
  2. Find "PayPal Payments" section
  3. Enter your PayPal email address
  4. Click Save

Important: You must manually mark domains as "sold" after PayPal sales.

Buying Domains

How do I buy a domain?

Find a domain you like and click either "Pay with Card" for credit card payment or "Pay with USDC" for cryptocurrency. Complete the checkout and the seller will be notified to transfer the domain to you.

Is my payment protected?

Yes! Whether you pay with card or USDC, your payment is held securely until you confirm receipt of the domain. The seller only gets paid after you click "Confirm Receipt".

What if the seller doesn't transfer the domain?

Sellers must provide the Authorization Code within 48 hours. If they don't, you're entitled to a full refund (card) or USDC return (crypto). Contact [email protected].

What if the Authorization Code doesn't work?

Contact us immediately at [email protected]. We'll investigate and if the code is invalid, expired, or fake, you'll receive a full refund.

How long do I have to confirm receipt?

You have 7 days from when the seller provides the Authorization Code. After 7 days, funds are automatically released to the seller.

Selling Domains

How do I start selling?

  1. Create an account
  2. Go to Settings → Integrations
  3. Connect Stripe (for card payments) and/or add your USDC wallet (for crypto payments)
  4. Add your domains from the Dashboard
  5. Verify ownership to get the green badge (required for USDC)

How do I get paid?

Card payments: Funds are sent to your Stripe account, then to your bank (2-3 business days).
USDC payments: USDC is sent directly to your Polygon wallet (usually within minutes).

Both methods require you to provide the Authorization Code and for the buyer to confirm receipt (or 7-day auto-release).

What happens if the buyer doesn't confirm?

If you provided a valid Authorization Code and the buyer doesn't confirm within 7 days, the funds are automatically released to you.

Why isn't my domain on the homepage?

The homepage features domains priced under $1,000 to focus on quick liquidation. Higher-priced domains are visible on your profile page.

What is domain verification?

Verification proves you control the domain's DNS. Add a TXT, A, or NS record to get a green verified badge. A record verification also enables a free "For Sale" landing page! Note: Domain verification is required regarding to accept USDC payments.

What are the rules and minimum prices for external checkout links?

DomainLiq supports adding checkout links from GoDaddy, Dynadot, and Spaceship. The rules, commissions, and minimum listing prices vary by registrar:

  • Spaceship (SellerHub): Minimum price is $100. Spaceship's SellerHub has a strict $100 minimum listing price for both Buy It Now configurations and Make Offer thresholds. It offers a 5% to 10% commission.
  • GoDaddy (Afternic / Dan Engine): Minimum price is $99. GoDaddy's backend (Afternic) enforces a hard system minimum of $99 to publish a functional "Buy It Now" checkout link. GoDaddy/Afternic also applies a minimum commission fee of $15 per sale (pricing close to or below $15 means transaction fees consume the payout).
  • Dynadot (Marketplace): No minimum price. Dynadot removed its $5 minimum price requirement for Buy It Now (BIN) and Closeout marketplace listings, offering the ultimate flexibility to set checkout links at any low-dollar amount. It charges a flat 10% marketplace commission.
