General Platform Questions

What is DomainLiq?

DomainLiq is a modern domain liquidation marketplace connecting buyers and sellers directly. We support secure escrow checkouts via Stripe (credit cards), USDC & USDT stablecoins (Polygon and Base networks), Escrow.com for high-value transactions, and direct registrar checkout links.

How does DomainLiq protect both buyers and sellers?

DomainLiq operates a strict safe-hold escrow system:

  • Buyer Protection: Your payment is held in escrow until the seller provides a valid Authorization (EPP) code or initiates a registrar push, and you confirm receipt. If the seller fails to deliver within 48 hours, you receive a 100% full refund.
  • Seller Protection: We verify buyer funds in full before prompting you to transfer the domain, eliminating non-paying buyers and fraudulent chargeback risks.

Is sign up free for sellers and buyers?

Yes! Account registration and domain listing are 100% free. There are no monthly subscription fees or listing fees. Platform fees are charged only when a domain sale closes successfully.

Seller Tiers, Limits & DNS Verification

What is the difference between Free and Verified Sellers?

DomainLiq operates a two-tiered seller model to maintain marketplace quality:

  • Free Seller Account: $2 flat platform fee for sales up to $50 (or 5% for sales over $50). Free accounts are capped at 50 domains and 3 portfolios/bundles. Listings first undergo admin curation review, and are then verified by the seller to go live.
  • Verified Seller Account: Reduced $1 flat platform fee for sales up to $50 (or 3% for sales over $50). Verified sellers receive a Gold Verified badge, unlimited domain listings, unlimited portfolios, and instant auto-approval on new listings.

How does a seller become Verified?

Verified Seller status is granted by DomainLiq admins based on proven sales history, domain ownership track record, and platform activity. Verification cannot be bought—it is earned through performance and trust.

How does listing approval work? (Instant listing for 2+ year domains)

When you submit a domain, our system automatically resolves its WHOIS registration history:

  • Aged Domains (2+ Years Old): Automatically approved and instantly published to the live marketplace with zero wait time.
  • Younger Domains (< 2 Years Old): Routed to our curation review queue and reviewed promptly by administrators (within 24 hours).

How do I verify domain ownership via DNS and get priority ranking?

DNS verification is optional, but it grants your domain the green Verified Ownership shield badge and boosts your listing to the top of marketplace search results. We support two fast methods:

  • NS Record (Recommended): Add ns3verify.domainliq.com as an additional nameserver (e.g. NS3) alongside your existing NS1/NS2 records. This verifies in minutes without disrupting your current site.
  • TXT Record: Add a TXT record with host @ (or _domainliq) and value domainliq-verify=YOUR_TOKEN.

Note: A-Record IP pointing is no longer supported for domain verification. Please use NS or TXT verification.

Can I change domain prices after listing?

Yes. Sellers can adjust prices anytime from the Dashboard. Verified Sellers enjoy instant price updates. For Free Sellers, significant price increases trigger a quick admin review to prevent bait-and-switch pricing on active buyers.

Domain Portfolios & Pick-and-Buy

What are Domain Bundles / Portfolios?

Domain Bundles allow sellers to package multiple related domain names (e.g. AI domains, brand packages, TLD sets) into a single portfolio listing with a discounted bulk price. Buyers can purchase all domains in the bundle at once with 1-click escrow checkout.

What is "Pick-and-Buy" and how does it work?

Pick-and-Buy gives buyers the flexibility to cherry-pick specific domains from a portfolio bundle without buying the whole collection.

  • Selected domains are priced dynamically at a 30% premium over the bundle's average per-domain price.
  • Once you initiate Pick-and-Buy, your selected domains are locked for 10 minutes so no other buyer can purchase them while you complete payment.

Can I share my portfolio on my own subdomains or socials?

Yes! Every seller gets a dedicated storefront handle at domainliq.com/@username. Public portfolios get unique shareable links at domainliq.com/u/username/portfolio/slug complete with automatic social preview images (OpenGraph cards).

Crypto Escrow (USDC & USDT)

How does crypto escrow work for USDC and USDT?

Buyers transfer stablecoins (USDC or USDT) to DomainLiq's escrow smart contract address. Transactions are verified automatically on-chain via block explorers. Funds are securely locked in escrow until the domain transfer is verified and confirmed by the buyer.

Which blockchain networks are supported for crypto checkouts?

We support Polygon Mainnet and Base Network for both USDC and USDT. These Layer-2 and EVM networks keep gas transaction fees near $0.01 while delivering sub-10-second confirmation speeds.

How are crypto payouts delivered to sellers?

Sellers specify their preferred USDC/USDT wallet address in Settings > Integrations. Once the buyer confirms domain receipt in the Transfer Center, the escrow system dispatches the crypto payout directly to the seller's wallet.

Card Checkouts & Registrar Links

How does Stripe card checkout protection work?

When paying by credit/debit card, funds are processed securely via Stripe Connect and held in safe-hold escrow. Payout is released to the seller once the buyer confirms receiving the domain in the Transfer Center (or automatically after 72 hours if no dispute is opened).

Can sellers link external registrar checkouts (GoDaddy, Dynadot, Spaceship, Atom)?

Yes. Sellers can configure direct registrar checkout links on their domains (e.g. GoDaddy/Dan buy links, Dynadot, Spaceship API links). When a buyer clicks the registrar link, they are redirected to complete the transaction directly with the external registrar. DomainLiq charges 0% platform fee on external registrar checkouts.

What are the platform fee rates?

Platform fees are calculated based on seller tier:

  • Free Sellers: $2 flat fee on domain sales up to $50, or 5% on sales over $50.
  • Verified Sellers: $1 flat fee on domain sales up to $50, or 3% on sales over $50.

Domain Transfers & Buyer Transfer Center

What is the Buyer Transfer Center?

The Transfer Center is a dedicated portal where buyers track purchase progress, receive Authorization (EPP) transfer codes, choose push transfer preferences, communicate directly via order support tickets, and confirm domain receipt without needing a full seller account.

What is the difference between Authorization Code and Push transfer?

  • Authorization (EPP) Code: The seller provides a secret alphanumeric code. You initiate a transfer at your preferred domain registrar (e.g. Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun) using this code.
  • In-Registrar Push: If you use the same registrar as the seller, the seller can push/transfer the domain directly into your registrar account ID instantly.

What happens if a seller does not deliver the domain within 48 hours?

Sellers have 48 hours to submit the valid domain EPP code or complete an in-registrar push. If the seller fails to deliver within 48 hours, the buyer is entitled to an immediate 100% full refund backed by our escrow guarantee.

How do I open an order support ticket?

If you encounter any issues during domain transfer, open your order in the Transfer Center and click "Report Issue / Open Support Ticket". DomainLiq admins will step in immediately to assist.
